HP MENTORSHIP PROJECT 2021
HP Malaysia is currently looking for upcoming creators with a passion for music and visual arts who would like to gain real-world knowledge and experience from local industry experts. Creators will need to submit their applications and a sample of their work to stand a chance to be selected for a mentorship journey (“Prizes”) with mentors, Zee Avi, Daniel Veerapen, or Edwin Raj (“Mentor(s)”), respectively.
To participate, applicants are required to follow the steps below:
i. Submit personal details and share your portfolio via here [insert link] between 15 October 2021 and 30 November 2021.
ii. Tell us why you would like to be chosen for the mentorship project in less than 100 words.
iii. For the singer/songwriter category:
a. Each applicant can only submit one (1) song per submission.
b. For the purpose of evaluation, a song must have both lyrics and music.
c. All submitted entries must be original songs and shall not infringe any copyrights or other rights of any third parties.
iv. For the music production category:
a. Each applicant can only submit one (1) piece of music per submission – this refers to one musical work.
b. All entries submitted must be an original production and shall not infringe any copyrights or other rights of any third parties.
v. For the digital visual art category:
a. Each applicant can only submit one (1) art/design/video per submission.
b. All submissions should be uploaded in the highest quality.
vi. Multiple, different entries per applicant are permitted in each category. Applicants can submit entries in more than one category too.
vii. This contest is open to all amateur and professional creators.
At the end of the Contest Submission Period, HP Malaysia and Mentors will shortlist up to three (3) submissions per category to join the Mentors for a four-week mentorship journey, which will be held between October to December 2021. (subject to change).

TERMS & CONDITIONS
1. About This Contest.
HP MENTORSHIP PROJECT 2021 – This challenge (“Contest”) is organised by HP PPS Sales Sdn. Bhd. (“HP Malaysia”). Participants to this Contest are subject to these terms or such other terms and conditions (“Terms”) that HP Malaysia may impose accordingly later. By participating in this Contest, participant is deemed to have agreed to and accepted these Terms and versions as subsequently amended. This Contest and Prizes are not valid in conjunction with any other offer or promotional product bundle outside of this Contest. Entries are not transferable or assignable.
2. Contest Period.
Contest Submission Period will be from 9:00am 15 October 2021 to 11:59pm 30 November 2021. (“Contest Submission Period”). Late, lost or misdirected submissions will be disqualified. HP Malaysia reserves the right to modify or extend the Contest Submission Period at its sole discretion.
3. Eligibility.
a) This Contest is open to all Malaysian citizens and anyone residing in Malaysia at the time of Contest Submission Period.
b) Each entry must be submitted on an individual basis only.
c) The contest is open to any individual, 18 years of age or older at the time of entry, their creative entry has never won any contest locally and internationally.
d) All submissions are accepted online only.
e) Employees of HP Malaysia, its subsidiaries, divisions, affiliates, authorised dealers/distributors, agents (including the advertising, public relations, marketing and interactive agencies used by HP Malaysia or its affiliates) and their immediate families are not eligible to participate in this Contest. Immediate family means any of the following: spouse, child or step-child (whether natural or by adoption), parent, step-parent, brother, sister, step-brother or step-sister.
f) HP Malaysia reserves the right to verify the eligibility of each participant and to disqualify any ineligible person from (i) his or her participation in this Contest; and (ii) in the event of non-receival of confirmation from the shortlisted participants to proceed to Final within seven (7) days from the date of being notified. HP Malaysia has an absolute right to select another submission (iii) receipt of any Prizes and/or require the return of any such Prizes awarded.
In such an event, HP Malaysia reserves the right to select a new winner for the Prizes and/or rescind the Prizes in any manner it deems fit, at its sole discretion.

5. Judging criteria: The judging criteria for this contest will be as follows:
a) Applicant is passionate about the mentorship opportunity and is keen to grow in the selected category.
b) Applicant’s skills and social standing do not exceed the skills and standing of the Mentors in the category of workshop they have submitted their entry towards.
c) Participant is eager to learn and evolve their craft with the guidance of the Mentors in the category of workshop they have submitted their entry towards.
6. Submitted Content. All content submitted by any participant (other than participant’s personal information) and all copyright and other rights in such content and/or other materials will vest in and become the property of HP Malaysia and will not be returned. Each participant agrees to provide a written assignment of all rights to HP Malaysia, if requested. HP Malaysia (and its affiliates) reserves the right to use all or some content in its original or edited format, and whether to promote the Contest or otherwise without further notification, remuneration or compensation to and of any Participant in this Contest for any purpose HP Malaysia deems fit to the extent permitted by law, including without limitations for publicity purposes, and to the extent HP Malaysia does not own such content pursuant to these Terms each participant hereby grants to HP Malaysia (and its affiliates) a worldwide, royalty-free and non-exclusive license to use the copyright and all other intellectual property rights of whatever nature in such content for such purposes. The participant also agrees in so far as it is permitted by law to waive all moral rights in the art types submitted including the right of attribution of authorship. Each participant hereby represents and warrants that all elements contained in the content submitted for this Contest:
(a) is original to the participant and fully cleared for use as contemplated in these Terms;
(b) does and will not, in any way, violate or breach any of the terms of any other agreement the participant may be a party to;
(c) is not unlawful, harmful, threatening, abusive, invasive of another’s privacy, harassing, defamatory, slanderous, tortious, vulgar, obscene, hateful, racist or otherwise offensive or objectionable to any other person or entity and if found so, participant will be responsible for such consequences;
(d) does not infringe or violate any copyright, trademark or other right (including the full spectrum of intellectual property rights), or contain any matter the publication or sale of which will violate any law, including federal or state statute or regulation;
(e) is not in any way cruel, abusive, nor involved any injury or hurt being caused to animal(s);
(f) is not contrary to or in breach of any internationally or generally accepted principles of human rights;
(g) does not contain any unsanctioned advertising, pyramid-scheme, promotional materials, or any other forms of unsanctioned solicitation, including without limitation junk mail, spam, chain letters, or any unsolicited mass distribution by e-mail;
(h) is free of viruses, corrupted files, malicious code or worms, or any other similar software or programs that may damage the operation of the host site or other computer; and
(i) shall not require HP Malaysia to pay or incur any sums to any person or entity as a result of HP Malaysia’s use or exploitation of the same and each participant will indemnify HP Malaysia (and its affiliates) from and against any and all losses, damages, liabilities and costs resulting from breach of the above representations and warranties in relation to such participant’s submitted content.
HP Malaysia reserves the right to disqualify any participant who submits any content in breach of the above representations and warranties.
7. Prize. The Winner(s) will be entitled to the following prizes:
a) Up to six-week mentorship journey hosted by Mentor of the category of mentorship they have submitted their entry towards.
b) Each mentee will be provided a suitable HP PC laptop or device of equivalent power to the Winner(s) with the software needed and will be available for the duration of the campaign
c) Any and all prizes are not transferable, exchangeable or redeemable for cash. HP Malaysia reserves the right to replace any prize with another of equivalent value without notice. HP Malaysia accepts no responsibility for any variation in the prize values; and
d) Should the Winner(s) fail to commit in the six-week mentorship journey after the Contest‘s result announcement, HP Malaysia has the right to select another winner. All expenses incurred by the organiser will be the responsibility of the participant, the device will be required to return to HP within three (3) working days, and no compensation from HP Malaysia will be offered.
e) If the device provided to the Winner(s) is lost or damaged in the care of the recipient, cost of replacement will have to be borne by the recipient, HP Malaysia will not replace the Winner(s) device and the Winner(s) will be required to replace the device at their own expense.
8. Winner(s) and Judging Criteria. The Winner(s) will be selected by HP Malaysia’s group of judges and Mentors. HP Malaysia reserves the right to disqualify any participant who does not comply with these Terms. The Winner(s) of this Contest will be notified via HP Malaysia’s social media account or by our mediums used by HP Malaysia and/or its agents. The results will be final, and HP Malaysia will not entertain any appeals, complaints or queries.
9. Release and Indemnity. To the extent permitted by applicable law, each participant, by entering this Contest, expressly releases HP Malaysia in the execution of this Contest from any claim, action or demand arising out of or in connection with this Contest or their prizes, if any. Participants will indemnify HP Malaysia, its agents, employees, representatives, associates, affiliates, parent and subsidiary companies against any and all claims, losses, costs, damages, liabilities and expenses arising out of the participant’s breach of any of these Terms.
10. Disclaimers.
(a) To the extent permitted by law, no representations or warranties are made as to the quality, suitability or merchantability of any prize (or any part of it). Acceptance of any prize will, to the extent permitted by law, constitute a full release and discharge of HP Malaysia by each winner from any and all liabilities, claims, demands, causes of action, and/or damages which the winner may have, whether known or unknown at the present time, of any nature whatsoever, arising out of or relating to: (i) this Contest; (ii) personal injury and/or property damage, theft or loss suffered by the winner as a result of the use and/or enjoyment of the prize; and/or (iii) any tax liabilities in relation to this Contest, prizes and/or use or enjoyment of the same;
(b) HP Malaysia will accept no responsibility for late, lost or misdirected submission/mail/notification. Further, to the extent permitted by law, HP Malaysia is not responsible for any problems or technical malfunction of any telephone network or lines, computer online systems, servers, or providers, computer equipment, software, technical problems or traffic congestion on the Internet or at any website, or any combination thereof, including (but not limited to) any injury or damage to participants or any other person’s computer, related to or resulting from participation in this Contest;
(c) If this Contest cannot run as planned, including, but not limited to, infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorised intervention, fraud, technical failures, prohibition by the relevant authorities or any other causes beyond the control of HP Malaysia which corrupts or affect the administration security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of this Contest, HP Malaysia reserves the right at its sole discretion to disqualify any individual who tampers with the entry process, and/or to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend this Contest as it sees fit;
(d) HP Malaysia is not liable for any loss or damage whatsoever which is suffered (including, without limitation, indirect or consequential loss), or for personal injury suffered or sustained, as a result of taking part in, the winning of or use of any of the prizes, except for any liability which cannot be excluded by law; and
(e) This Contest is in no way sponsored, endorsed, administered or associated with Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, Pinterest, YouTube, and any other social media platforms, sites and activities.
11. Personal Data. HP Malaysia and/or its affiliates and agencies may subsequently be required to collect personal data which may be shared with HP Malaysia’s affiliates and agencies assisting with this Contest. 12. Waivers. The HP Malaysia has an absolute discretion to grant any waivers and indulgences on terms and conditions of this Contest.
13. Governing Law and Jurisdiction. The laws of Malaysia shall govern the terms and conditions of this Contest. Participants agree to submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Malaysia for all matters arising from or in relation to this Contest.
