HP needed to produce jigs and fixtures for the camera’s 3-in-1 foot assembly. These fixtures are placed on both sides of the foot surface to support the foot during adhesive bonding. Costs to produce such fixtures using traditional machining can exceed $1,000 per set and the lead time can take weeks.

RESULTS
Producing these fixtures using HP MJF presents the following additional benefits:
-
Cost reduction: HP MJF saves on costs associated with machining parts (e.g., having to produce multiple iterations for the desired result) and costs that come with long lead times that are common with traditional machining.
-
Decreased production time: While Injection Molded parts take weeks to make and rework, parts made with HP MJF and all subsequent versions are available in days.
-
Design optimization: HP MJF enables design freedom and customization, resulting in the ability to create optimal geometries for various industries, including engineering, industrial design, and manufacturing.
