The Challenge

A prosthetic leg socket serves as an interface between the residuum (the part of the body that underwent surgery) and the prosthesis, ideally allowing comfortable weight-bearing and movement control. To create a conventional socket, the product is typically handmade with plaster, which results in heavy weight, poor durability, and lack of comfort for patients, in addition to a long production lead time. Therefore, Hulotech began to explore new 3D printing technologies to simplify and transform their production process.
