HP Co-Founder

William “Bill” Hewlett, a true American hero. He isn’t just a co-founder of HP; he was a Lieutenant Colonel in the U.S. Army during WWII.

Bill embarked on a dual journey, co-founding HP with his friend David Packard and answering the call to serve his nation. While stationed mostly as a Signal Corps officerin Washington, a pivotal moment came after Japan’s surrenderin August 1945 when he joined a secret team with a remarkable mission: to interview Japanese scientists about their advances in weapons technologies.

He uncovered something profound—the importance of tech compatibility across military branches. This discovery would shape HP’s legacy for decades to come.

Fast-forward two decades, and HP became a leaderin creating industrywide standards for performance and compatibility in electronics.

Glenn Williams, a distinguished U.S. Army veteran, embodies service, leadership, and dedication. Glenn’s military journey took him to Wiesbaden, Germany, and Schinnen, Netherlands, where he served in the 1st Armored Division and the 21st Theater Support Command. He completed two combat tours in Kuwait and Iraq, starting as a 27 Delta legal specialist and rising to the role of 270 Alpha legal administrator.

Glenn’s exceptional service earned him numerous commendations, including the Army Commendation Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Combat Action Badge, and several other prestigious honors. His dedication, discipline, and legal expertise made him an indispensable asset during his military career.

Today, Glenn continues to make a profound impact at HP. His background in law and compliance has been instrumental in shaping the company’s culture and human resources strategies. He continues to build the HP People vision by providing support for our business units, global functions, and technical teams to build capabilities for the future.

Maia Davis

Maia Davis

U.S. Army, Captain (2009-2014)

Chief of Staff - US End User Sales

Maia Davis, a distinguished U.S. Army veteran, embodies the values of service, loyalty, and dedication. Serving forfive years as an activeduty Medical Service Corps officer, Maia worked closely with combat medics and led a platoon during Operation Iraqi Freedom. Her military journey also included a year with a medical brigade in South Korea and culminated as a group practice manager at a Washington D.C. military treatment facility.

Among her many achievements, Maia was awarded the Bronze Star Medal, a reflection of her exceptional service and leadership. However, the most lasting impact of her military career was her deep sense of duty and loyalty and her unwavering commitment to advancing the broader mission—principles that continue to guide her professional endeavors today.

Driven by a passion to make a meaningful difference, Maia applies the same values in her work and life, always striving to serve others and create positive change.

Tommy Gardner

Chief Technology Officer at HP Federal

Meet Tommy Gardner, a man whose journey has taken him from the depths of the sea to the forefront of innovation at HP.

As a dedicated Navy Captain, Tommy commanded the nuclear submarine USS San Juan, where precision and leadership were paramount. He oversaw the Navy’s Deep Submergence Program and the Advanced Technology Program, ensuring that our armed forces remain at the cutting edge of technology. While studying at the U.S. Naval Academy, he was not only a scholar but also a member of the football team, showcasing his dedication on and off the field.

Today, Tommy brings that same dedication to HP as our Chief Technology Officer, guiding us into the future with a vision born from his naval experience.

Drew Stone

Drew Stone

U.S. Navy, Petty Officer (1988-1992)

HP Poly Federal Technical Consultant

Drew Stone, a proud veteran and advocate for authenticity and inclusion. Drew’s military journey began in 1988 when he joined the U.S. Navy, where he served until 1992. He trained at the Mare Island Fleet Combat Training Facility in California before being deployed aboard the USS Josephus Daniels CG-27. Priorto his time in the Navy, he supported UNITAS joint exercises and counternarcotics operations, experiences that fostered a strong work ethic, discipline, and meticulous attention to detail—qualities that have helped shape his professional career.

Serving during the “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” era, Drew faced immense personal challenges in a time when being open about one’s identity was not only discouraged but prohibited. That experience instilled in him the importance of creating safe and inclusive spaces where everyone can thrive, both in and out of uniform.

Today, Drew channels his passion forinclusion and authenticity as a leader within HP’s Global PRIDE Business Resource Group. Inspired by his own journey, he is dedicated to fostering an environment where everyone can be theirtrue selves without fear.

This Veterans Day, we celebrate not only Drew’s dedication to his country but also his commitment to ensuring that everyone has the freedom to live authentically.

Laura Gonzales

U.S. Army, Sergeant (2009-2016)

Inside Sales Account Manager

Laura Gonzales, a hero who is now making a difference at HP. Laura served in the U.S. Army for over seven years, providing critical medical care for our soldiers, first as a combat medic and then as a healthcare specialist. Her dedication to serving her country and caring for others had a profound effect on those with which she served.

Today, Laura is an Inside Sales Account Manager helping meet the unique needs of the state and local government, K-12, and higher education sectors through strategic sales initiatives. Laura’s journey from the military to HP is a testament to her unwavering commitment to service and excellence.

This drive to pursue excellence and constantly hone her skills led Laura to earn her Higher Education Bootcamp 2023 certification, furthering her ability to connect cutting-edge HP solutions with client objectives.
