Foot orthoses

by iORTHOTICS

iOrthotics had been using subtractive methods (CNC machining) and the plaster cast method to produce insoles, resulting in approximately 30 devices per day. They sought ways to scale production sustainably, reduce lead times to meet demand, and ensure optimal comfort in their devices.

Benefits of using HP MJF technology:

  • Customized insoles to treat each patient’s feet
  • Productivity has quadrupled to over 100 pairs per day using HP Multi Jet Fusion, outperforming other 3D printing technologies
  • Stronger materials are used in production that result in superior orthotics and aesthetics

Customer testimonial

"Our digital workflow requires far fewer steps. We receive a scan from a podiatrist, load it into our custom software, 3D print it, clean it off, glue on a top cover, and we’re done. Traditional manufacturing of orthotics would often take up to 2 weeks from start to finish. We routinely go from scan to shipment in 3-5 days.” - Thomas Leahy, Orthotics Technical Development Manager
